History of Arts on the Block

Founded in 2003, Arts on the Block began with a vision to connect young people with the power of art as a vehicle for self-expression, career exploration, and civic engagement. Over time, AOB has become a recognized name in youth art education and workforce development, producing public works seen across the Washington D.C. Metro region.

Their signature program, “The Apprentice Program,” trains teen artists in mosaic making, digital design, and client collaboration, giving them skills that extend far beyond the studio. Click here to read about the FRESHFARM Downtown Silver Spring Market
